The Faith Doctor
Coming from a place of losing everything including a church, a marriage, material possessions, Dr. JL never lost hope and faith in God. God has graced Dr. JL to have overcome a life of turmoil and a former life that included prison, porn, street life, and many challenges. Dr. JL now uses those experiences to mentor, inspire and uplift. Dr. JL believes his assignment is to teach the word and love the people. Dr. JL is the founder of The Husbands Bootcamp, The Wives Bootcamp and The Singles Bootcamp, and he is graced to teach on relationships. He has published several books, now on Amazon, including: “Simply Single: The Qualifying Factor,” “Kingdom Confessions,” “The Good Work of Marriage,” and “Faith That Really Works,” with several manuscripts in production. Dr. JL is married to Pastor Ginger Simpson. The couple have seven children and live in Virginia
Beach.

Co-Pastor, Ginger Simpson

PASTOR GINGER SIMPSON

The Restored Woman
Pastor Ginger Simpson,  has devoted her life to helping people develop a closer relationship with God, and is a model in the moment to many.  From Virginia Beach, Va.,  Pastor Giner chose a nine year journey of abstinence while healing from an abusive first marriage, a bankruptcy, foreclosure, depression, and a self esteem that had hit rock bottom. During this season, Pastor Ginger rediscovered herself, her purpose and identity. She began a journey of restoration, self love and dedicated her singleness to God, becoming passionate about teaching other women the message of restoration and abstinence. Pastor Ginger used her testimony to found The Restored Woman, a women’s ministry with a mission of bringing other women closer to God.

And then one day, Pastor Ginger met the one God had for her, Dr. JL Simpson. After a long
friendship that led to courtship, two years later, the couple married in 2019 and founded Relevant Church eight days later. Headquartered in coastal Virginia, the rapidly growing ministry flourished during a pandemic, with partners all over the United States and internationally.

Pastor Ginger’s husband, Dr. JL, credits her with saving his life, a period he refers to as The
Rebuild. The two are anointed to teach on singleness, relationships, and marriage. The couple believe “MARRIAGE IS GOOD WORK,” which has become their trademarked ministry. The transparent teachings of The Simpsons allows people to connect and reconnect to God, and to believe that restoration and the rebuild is their portion.

Pastor Ginger, THE RESTORED WOMAN, has become a social media influencer, and
motivational speaker, encouraging countless audiences with a tell-it-like-it-is delivery,
penetrating hearts with love. Also the founder of Ginger Simpson Ministries, Pastor Ginger is a highly sought after speaker for various events and conferences. The Restored Woman ministry and Ginger Simpson Ministries reaches thousands internationally.
Together, Dr. JL and Pastor Ginger have seven children and live in Virginia Beach.

OUR VISION

"Changing lives Spiritually, Physically, and Mentally, through the Teaching of the Word of God."

What We Believe And Teach

In the triune God-The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ is the true God and true Man.  The Holy Spirit is a divine person. All scripture is given by the inspiration of God.  All have sinned and come short of the glory of God and are in need of salvation.  Salvation has been provided for all men through the shed blood of Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary.  It is the will of God that every Believer be filled with the Holy Spirit. Healing is provided in the redemptive work of Christ and is available to every Believer.  The Church consists of all those who have received Jesus Christ as their personal Savior.  There shall be a bodily resurrection of the just and of the unjust. In the personal, visible, imminent return of Jesus Christ. In water baptism and observance of the Lord's Supper.

“To build a special army of people who are full of God, full of God's Word, and full of God's Faith.”

Our History

Chesapeake Christian Center began with the will of our Heavenly Father in the prayer of a wife, Beulah Duke, who believed God for the salvation of her husband, Marvin. His heart became overwhelmed by the goodness of God. So, in the quietness of his own home, he gave his life to Jesus Christ and received him as Lord and Savior. Shortly afterwards he received the "baptism of the Holy Spirit" and an incessant appetite for the Word of God.

The Holy Spirit began to reveal the word of faith to him in a mighty way, and he was completely transformed.  Soon, God began to use him to minister in a number of area churches. It was during this time that the Lord began showing him how so many in the body of Christ lacked knowledge they needed to live victorious lives. God began to impress on Marvin's heart the need for a teaching ministry in the Chesapeake area.

In January 1992, with a handful of believers and a vision ("Changing lives spiritually, physically, and materially through the teaching of the word of God"), Chesapeake Christian Center was born. Initially the ministry held monthly meetings on every second Sunday at the Holiday Inn, Greenbrier at 6:30pm

In July 1992, Marvin joined the Fellowship of Inner City Word of Faith Ministries, established by Dr. Fred Price. Marvin was ordained in September 1992 by Elder Little Joe Powell of Samuel Chapel Holiness Church of Moyock, North Carolina.

In October 1992, Chesapeake Christian Center began holding weekly services. In August 1993, Chesapeake Christian Center began meeting at Indian River Middle School. After making our daily confessions of faith for 5 years, on November 22, 1998 we celebrated the opening of our brand new sanctuary at 300 Liberty Street in Chesapeake, Virginia. On May 16, 2000, Dr. Frederick K.C. Price, Founder and President of Crenshaw Christian Center in Los Angeles, California dedicated the new building. To accommodate the growth rate a million dollar new addition was built  and dedicated on June 29th, 2008. The new expansion includes a beautiful cathedral lobby area, larger bookstore, fellowship and banquet hall, choir room as well as a media room including a larger nursery and personal ministry room. To God be the glory!
